Explanation of ‘Use storage media-based catalogs’ (Fast Cataloging) option: When the “Use storage media-based catalogs” check box is selected, Backup Exec is able to read the catalog information that is on the media. This allows the catalog operation to complete much faster as it is not reading each file on the media to build a new catalog.
I recently just setup a second backup server. Our old server is running Backup Exec 9.1 and the new one is running 11d both on Windows 2003. I have installed the new Backup Remote Agent on our Exchange 2003 server. Our backup procedure is to backup the servers to a disk array connected to the backup server overnight. Then we have a duplicate backup job that runs to back it up to tape throughout the day. Here is the issue:The actual backup job of the Exchange Store completes without a problem. But when the duplicate job runs to back it up to tape I get the error: e0008105 - Invalid Physical Volume Library Media Identifier.
The interesting thing is I have another backup job that backs up a few of our file servers running on this backup server and that duplicate job completes fine.
I have searched Symantec's knowledge base and tried about 5 different suggestions from them but haven't been able to solve it.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
